Duprie is a Cameroonian singer, songwriter, artist and performer best known for his work in the Afropop, Afro swing and R&B genres. Duprie whose legal name is Damen Priestley Dume was born on 2nd December 1984 in the city of Kumba (K-Town) in the Southwest Region of Cameroon.
Duprie grew up in Kumba where he pursued part of his secondary education and then transferred to Bilingual Grammar School in the city of Buea. He later travelled to the United States where he attended the prestigious Brown University; an Ivy League university in Providence, Rhode Island.
Performing at community shows and school competitions while in Secondary school, Duprie’s musical aspiration was influenced by the likes of Michael Jackson, Richard Bona, R. Kelly and Usher.
His musical career took flight professionally in 2018 as a songwriter upon establishing Damrex Records. In 2021, he released his debut single “Pull Up” which was immediately followed by “Playboy”; a collaboration with Ghanaian artist Ahkan as well as his new wave Afro-Love classic “Le Ndem” produced by prolific Cameroonian producer Phill Bill.
