Formerly known as Lil Trix, ZULO is a South African hip-hop rap artist who continues to evolve as a creative while investing in his craft, keen to broaden his musical tastes.
ZULO is renowned for being highly hands-on, and his sound is thought to be quite experimental, generally fusing genres like boom bap, modern trap, kwaito, and EDM. His lyrical style is primarily powerful and moving, employing South African-influenced slang, satire, and pop culture.
ZULO achieved notoriety after signing with rapper Blayze’s record company, Blayze Entertainment, and releasing his star-studded single “Red, Black, & White” after landing several early chart-toppers on both YFM and 5FM. In 2017, HYPE Magazine listed him as one of its Freshmen.
With a sound commonly described as synth-heavy, rapper and music producer ZULO has established himself as one of South Africa’s most independent musicians because of his intense focus on little details and aural variety.
