Luyando Mbewe, better known as Fireman766 on stage, is a Zambian Afrobeat, rap/hip hop performer.
The young phenom, who was born on April 18, 1997, in Kabwe, dreamed of being a singer and rapper since the age of nine. His musical dreams, however, were put on wait in order to pursue his schooling.
After graduating from Chisamba boarding school in 2015, the young rapper went on to Nanjing University of Aeronautics to study electrical engineering.
During his time in China, he resumed his musical endeavours after meeting two other artists, Sona and Marvelous, a young pair who shared his passion for music. They collaborated on the song “Issa Madness,” which they recorded together.
His debut solo song, “Life of an mc,” was published in 2018, and he followed it up with “Don’t Gas,” in 2019.
When he returned to Zambia, he met DJ Mzenga, with whom he coined the phrase “No Soft Life.”
Today, Fireman 766 is regarded as one of Zambia’s most skilled rappers.
Macky 2, Chef 187, Yo Maps, Jae Cash, and DM7 are just a few of the prominent names in Zambian music with whom he has collaborated.
