South African diva Lwandile Mtshali, professionally known as Lwah Ndlunkulu, is such a unique talent whose songs draw from her unique experiences coming through the northern Kwazulu-Natal region in Durban, giving Ndlunkulu’s music a distinct identity that has propelled her from regional acclaim to nationwide dominance.
Lwah Ndlunkulu made her music debut in 2018 with the locally viral song “Mina Nawe,” which she followed up with a string of live appearances. The following year, she released her debut EP, “Ilembe,” but it didn’t exactly have the impact that she had hoped for. However, Lwah rose to fame following the August 2022 release of her groundbreaking first song, Ithuba, which also featured Siya Ntuli.
In January 2023, she released the single, ‘’Ngiyeza”. Within the first week after release, it ranked #2, #4, #5, and #9 on the iTunes Charts, Shazam, Apple Music, and Spotify, respectively. She seamlessly fuses traditional African sounds with modern music genres to produce something genuinely original and enthralling, and it’s amazing how the various elements of her life are coming together to stimulate what might be a fantastic music career.
