Esther Akoth, known professionally as Akothee, is a Kenyan singer and businesswoman who was born on April 8, 1983. She is East Africa’s No. 1 Female Artist and a multi-award winning phenomenon. Her amazing afro-beat melodies are frequently accompanied by sensuous dancing routines, and she is well-known for them.

An autonomous African Queen with the ability to transport you both emotionally and physically via her performances. Akothee, who was born in Kisumu County, grew up in Migori County. She went to Nyabisawa Girls Secondary School till she left out at the age of 14 to marry her husband. She returned to secondary school, graduating from Gachie Mixed Secondary School in 2004.

Akothee’s music career began in 2008, and she has since established a reputation for herself globally via both solo efforts and collaborations with industry giants such as Diamond Platnumz.

She’s branded herself ‘The Queen of Kanungo,’ referring to a set of sounds and body-bending dance steps unique to Kenya’s Luo people.

Most of her songs, which are performed in Kiswahili, English, and Luo, have an afro-beat vibe to them, which is only one of the reasons why so many people adore her music.

“Oyoyo,” ”Pretty Mama,” ”Mwitu asa,” “Wema Wako,” and a slew of other songs have been published by her.

She has won multiple honours in her musical career, including “Best Female Artist (East Africa)” at the African Muzik Magazine Awards in 2016 and 2019, “Best Video” at the African Muzik Magazine Awards in 2016, and “Best Female Artist” at the African Entertainment Awards in the United States.
