Nina Roz, born Nina Kankunda is a Ugandan songwriter, singer, and model who has made a name for herself in Uganda’s entertainment scene. The female recording artist who is of western Ugandan and Rwandese descent was born in July 1993 in the capital of Kampala in Kibuli mutajazi. She is a raga, afro dancehall, and afro-pop performer.
Nina Roz is an undergraduate at the International University of East Africa studying Bachelor of Business Administration who took a hiatus in her second year due to unforeseen circumstances and is now focusing on music.
She embarked on a professional singing career in September 2016 after the release of her most successful hit song ‘’Mekete’’ in which she featured Roden Y and collaborations with Eddy Wizzy, Ratigan, and Dan Dizzy among others.
Nina has been going from strength to strength since exploding onto the scene with her breakthrough tune ‘Mkete,’ launching a handful of solo musical projects, including the current ‘Billboard’ single ‘’Kipande’’.
In 2017, she signed with Boom Bark Records and released a few solo projects, including ‘’Omuliro,” which was produced by Nessim pan production in 2018, and ‘’Anayinama,” a dancehall tune she released in 2019.
Currently, she works with the Black Market Records doing her professional career and has a long list of songs like ‘’Ntinka nkutike’’ and ‘’Ekyoyoyo’’ to her credit as well as several honors such as the 2019 Hipipo Awards as the Best Breakthrough Artist.
