Mbogi Genje

Mbogi Genje is a Hardcore/Rap-Dancehall musical trio from Umoja, Kenya, comprised of three men: Smady (Antony Odhiambo), Guzman (Teddy Ochieng), and Militant (Malaka Yuen).

They’re at the vanguard of the Hardcore/Rap wave, which has swept over the country’s hip-hop/genje scene. They’ve become great favourites as listeners readily empathize with the message mbogi genje portray in their songs thanks to their distinctive style of hardcore slang (Sheng) and street rap, in which they blend real-life concerns with what impacts the young and what they go through to survive.

The group rose to prominence after their debut single, “Ngumi Mbwegze,” became a smash and catapulted them into the spotlight. Their music is inspired by their personal experiences as they grew up.

The group’s musical career continues to be successful. They credit their success to their perseverance and dedication to their craft. Throughout their careers, they have received accolades, nominations, and honours, including the Kisima award. “Fire,” “Zimble,” “Kifaa,” “Chingri,” “Ngumi Bwegze,” “Kidungi,” “Kuja mbaya,” “Blood War,” “Kamkoba,” and many others are among their tunes.
