Broadcasting the sounds of contemporary Lagos to an ever-expanding audience, DJ Obi is a Nigerian DJ and musical tastemaker known for his world record for the longest marathon club DJ-ing in 2016.
He started his career presenting the Open House Party radio show on Ray Power FM and has since performed alongside some of Africa’s top stars.
He began disc jockeying while still a student at Worcester State University in the United States, where he studied media, radio, and communications. He returned to Nigeria in 2012 after finishing school to pursue his passion, and so began his journey to become one of Nigeria’s top disc jockeys.
DJ Obi comes into the game with an outstanding résumé, having served as a brand ambassador for Tag Heuer, Nike, Heineken, and a few other big firms.
He is one of Nigeria’s most popular DJs, having received numerous awards and nominations, including Best World DJ at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, nominations for 2016 The Future Awards Africa Prize for Creative Professional, and being featured on the cover of Bold Magazine Africa’s 2016 Christmas Edition.
Some of his most memorable performances include appearances at the MTV Africa Music Awards and the MOBO Wards.
