Tobi Tokz

London-based Nigerian Afrobeat singer-songwriter, Michael Oluwatobi Bhadmus also known by his stage name Tobi Tokz was born for the spotlight and his multifaceted career is shaping up to be iconic. The multi-talented artiste is an indigene of Ogun State, Nigeria. He was born on the 19th of June, 1988 and he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Airline and Airport management and has worked in the Aviation Industry, but he is also currently a Mental Health Nurse.

He burst onto the scene as a fresh-faced artist in 2019 after having entered the Open Mic UK Competition; a live music competition that Future Music Management ran in the UK for singers, vocalists, and solo artists. Shortly after, with over 20 years of experience and having worked with various big names in the UK music industry such as Stormzy, Krept and Konan, Stefflon Don, and many more, Patrick Osei, a renowned UK music producer and founder of Hot Money Productions helped him get in and find his footing in the industry. The Ogun state native’s musical gifts transcend genre boundaries, making him a household name and gaining a reputation for creating potent songs that examined life’s complexities and are birthed from emotionally stimulating experiences like sadness or happiness

Tobi Tokz’s talent, wisdom, and poise made him into a musically gifted artiste growing up under the influence of emotional songs by artists like Seal, Gabrielle, and All Saints to name a few. He moved on to cultivate his signature sound by creating forward-thinking music that is propelled by a fusion sound of true Afrobeat rhythms, soft vocal tones, pop sensibilities, and influences from black music. His interest in the Afro-pop genre was nurtured by artists like Davido, Fireboy DML & Kuami Eugene.

The Afropop singer, Tobi Tokz wants to be known for taking the genre he performs to places it hasn’t reached before around the world and also for positively influencing the next generation of music artists. After witnessing Afropop’s evolution from infancy to a worldwide export, he realized the industry needed his unique perspective, which resulted in his banging EP titled, “Token”. This vision has resonated with both listeners and industry tastemakers alike.

The EP has five tracks: ‘Lockdown’, ‘Femi’, ‘Tweet’, ‘Frontin’, and ‘Kisses’. The five tracks were mixed and mastered by Patrick Osei and Ziey Kizzy at Hotmoney studios, UK and they are a mixture of Afrobeat and Afropop. Presently, music videos have been released for the tracks ‘Lockdown’ and ‘Frontin’. It is a sweet blend of Afrobeat/Afropop and the inspiration behind this piece of art are his personal life experiences as well other people’s experiences which he has been privileged to be privy to.  “The project contains soothing music, rhythmic and embodies an electric vibe and rhythm which synchronizes your ears and your soul”- The Sun Newspapers.

The global artist is destined for stardom, his current EP is topping charts and doing the numbers. Statistics show that his body of work, ‘TOKEN’ has so far garnered thousands of streams across all platforms. One must simply listen to any of his songs to realize that Tobi Tokz does not create ordinary music. He is pure talent.
