Jubantouja is a Moroccan band that uses music to promote Amazigh heritage. The band symbolizes their home base in Morocco’s High Atlas highlands and gives Tamazight a voice.
Jubantouja is an alternative/indie rock band that blends traditional and modern elements to create a distinctive form of music, which is reflected in their Amazigh melodies and inspired by their villages’ rich culture and surroundings.
The band’s leader Ayoub Nabil, also known as Juba child or “Juba N’touja” has long worked to secure Amazigh music’s position and significance in Moroccan urban music.
Jubantouja’s goal from the start was to dispel the misconceptions that Amazigh music was linked with, and via indie and alternative rock, as well as other music genres, the band is creating original music that both revives the identity and language of Moroccans across the country.
