Inspired by Hip-Hop greats at an early age, Ntokozo Mdluli, better known on stage as K.O, is a renowned South African rapper, composer, and businessman who was born on October 13, 1989, in Soweto, Johannesburg.
Mdluli, a Vaal University of Technology public relations management graduate, began pursuing a career in rap music. He quickly founded “Teargas,” a group that made a lasting history in South African music with four outstanding albums.
Following his meteoric rise to fame, K.O founded the well-known entertainment and lifestyle firm “Cashtime Life” in 2013, through which he produced his breakthrough song “Caracara,” which is widely recognized for revolutionizing South African hip-hop.
“Caracara” topped regional, digital, radio, and television charts, and it was the first South African rap video to reach one million YouTube views. K.O. toured the African continent, the United Kingdom, and the United States in support of his debut album, “Skhanda Republic,” which peaked at number one on the RSA charts and went platinum soon after release, receiving three SA Music Awards.
“SR2,” his second album, was nominated for a South African Hip-Hop Award and was regarded as – K.O’s most open and intimate body of work, exposing the seldom seen fragility of a striving black guy in South Africa.
