Born, Thandeka Ngema, Mawhoo is a dynamic female performer with a distinct sound that sets her apart from her peers. Her music is geared toward adults and speaks for other ladies who are unable to completely express their desires and demands.
She’s been pursuing a career in music since she was 11 years old when she took her first tune to a radio station in Eshowe, Kwazulu Natal. She opted to model until she could find a way to break through after being turned down because she was too young.
She was put in touch with super-producer Heavy K after reaching out to the legendary, yet controversial South African label Mabala Noise in 2018, and went on to record “Umshado” with him, as well as two tracks with Scorpion Kings on their pioneering album “Once Upon a Time in Lockdown.”
Though MaWhoo is relatively unknown, having worked with heavyweights such as Heavy K and Deejay Maphorisa, kabza de small, master kg, and major league DJz, it is only a matter of time before her name is listed among the country’s most notable names.
