One of the driving forces behind the #nunairobi movement and a key contributor to Nairobi’s alternative music industry is the Kenyan producer and rapper Nu Fvnk, who is also one-fifth of the East African Wave DJ Producer collective.
Free from the conventions of the modern music industry and driven by an Odd Future-esque DIY ethic, Nu Fvnk is constantly creating and sharing new art, whatever the form. In 2022, he independently released 10 stand-alone singles, two EPs, and his debut album, ‘’COLOR MAN.’’ His love of teaming up with others is evident in all of his creations, which have a quirky gritty quality stemming from his identity as a young urban Nairobian.
The goal of Nu Fvnk is always self-expression, which goes beyond music to include various forms of art and fashion. He has a unique sense of style that is always “It shouldn’t work but does!”
